Introduction To Igor and Agora
Prerequisite: Access to an Agora machine
Instructor:   Info Center Staff
Duration:     3 hours
Schedule:     As frequently as demand requires
Location:     88-R11
Note:         Minimum 4 students, maximum 6.

Igor is Agora's version of the Almaden desktop for the Graphical User
Interface.  You will learn how to run programs, hot to manage your files,
how to get help, how to create a personal toolkit, how to view and print
files, how to protect files, how to connect to another machine, how to
transfer files, and how to autostart Igor.  This course assumes you can use
a mouse and understand the concepts of a hierarchical file system.

Customizing Igor
Prerequisite: Introduction to Igor and Agora (or equivalent)
Instructor:   Info Center Staff
Duration:     3 hours
Schedule:     As frequently as demand requires
Location:     88-R11
Note:         Minimum 4 students, maximum 6.

You will learn how to install Igor, the steps Igor follows in initializing
the user environment, what are the Igor default settings, how to modify the
default settings, how to set up and add additional printers to Agora, and
on which environment variables Igor depends.  This course assumes that you
have browsed through the Igor reference guide (watson_IgorRef.txt) located in
the /local/doc/igor directory.

Agora Services And Apps
Prerequisite: Interest in Agora
Instructor:   Info Center Staff
Duration:     3 hours
Schedule:     As frequently as demand requires
Location:     Hawthorne
Note:         Minimum 4 students, maximum 6.

Combining both lecture and demos, you will get an overview of the services and
applications that are available to Agora users.  These include how to request
an installation, what file services are available (NFS, AFS), the automatic
backup scheme, mail and messaging (xmh/Zephyr), printing (xqueue), host access
(xant), consulting (OLC), desktop user interface (Igor), desktop publishing
(Corel, Frame, Interleaf), graphics, compilers, math, text, spreadsheet, etc.
