[Aldor-l] Building Aldor

Has anyone recently successfully built Aldor from the aldor.org
sources on an up-to-date Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit system? I haven't build
Aldor for a couple of years. When I tried it now the build gets past
the first stage of C compiles but seems to very quickly grab all of
memory and it starts intensive swapping within the first few seconds
during the first first call to Aldor to compile an algebra library.  I
believe the I modified the Makefile.global file correctly before
starting the build. I do not recall any problems like this when I last
did this on the same system when it was running Ubuntu (or maybe it
was Debian) two years ago.

Also, has anyone successfully built Aldor from Pippijn van
Steenhoven's source at
http://xinutec.org/~pippijn/home/projects/lang/aldor ?  I tried to do
this but could not find sufficient documentation on the build process.
I asked Pippijn for more details but I haven't heard from him yet.
